IG Recognizes GSA Employee for Payphone Fraud Case Assistance

GSA Inspector General Brian D. Miller presented an award to Warren Snaider, a GSA employee, at GSA headquarters on June 26 for helping the OIG uncover two payphone fraud schemes in the DC area and Wisconsin.

With Snaider’s assistance, the OIG, working jointly with IRS Criminal Investigation and the FBI, was able to uncover over $5 million in fraudulent payphone charges – with over 250 victims identified including federal and state government agencies and private businesses. Four individuals were convicted and sentenced in federal court on charges related to the payphone fraud schemes. Over $2.8 million was seized and forfeited to the U.S. Government, and over $ $3.7 million was ordered in restitution by the U.S. Courts.
