Recovery of Government Vehicle

GSA OIG was notified by GSA’s Fleet Services Division about the potential fraudulent use of a government vehicle assigned to the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base MacGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.  An OIG investigation revealed that a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant had used the government vehicle for personal use for two years after retiring from the military.  The state of New Jersey brought criminal charges against the Master Sergeant.  Subsequently, the Master Sergeant was accepted into a pretrial intervention program, placed on probation for three years, and ordered to pay $21,954 in restitution to the United States.
