Federal Surplus Property Valued at More than $670,000 Recovered

During the period of July 11-25, 2011, surplus federal property valued at more than $670,000 was returned to the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office in Stockton, CA, after a General Services Administration (GSA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigation revealed that most of the property was inappropriately obtained through the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program administered by the State of California Department of General Services.  The property returned included three Armored Personnel Carriers, three Gamma Goat vehicles, and 41 body armor vests. GSA OIG led the investigation with the assistance of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service and Defense Logistics Agency.
