The Office of Counsel provides legal support to the nationwide operations of the OIG. The Offie of Counsel is repsonsible for the OIG ethics program and manages the OIG disclosure obligations under the Freedom of Information Act (F.O.I.A.) and Privacy Act, and discovery requirements in judicial and administrative litigation. Counsel tasks cover the gamut of GSA and OIG functions, including Inspector General-specific issues and administrative law matters such as appropriations, procurement, personnel, torts, and contracts. The Office of Counsel also provides legal training to OIG staff.
